Job summary

A full time / part-time post as a Clinical Fellow in Advanced Airway management and Upper GI (UGI) anaesthesia is available at Oxford University Hospitals. This post is aimed at suitably qualified anaesthetists.We are seeking an exceptional individual to join the Nuffield Department of Anaesthetics for this one year Airway Fellowship and UGI anaesthesia. This unique fellowship is highly structured, combining didactic, clinical, simulation and research components. However, the Fellow will be allowed the flexibility to mould the programme to their specific requirements. The Fellow will be provided with an outstanding opportunity to manage complex cases, and to acquire state-of-the-art advanced airway management skill sets in real life situations.

Main duties of the job

  • The post-holder's duties will cover in and out-of-hours duties across all three sites.
  • In clinical governance activities, including clinical audit, clinical effectiveness, risk management, quality improvement activities as required by the Trust, and external accrediting bodies.
  • The post-holder will be required to keep himself/herself fully up-to-date with their relevant area of practice and to be able to demonstrate this to the satisfaction of the Trust. Professional or study leave will be granted at the discretion of the Trust, in line with the prevailing Terms and Conditions of Service, to support appropriate study, postgraduate training activities, relevant CME courses and other appropriate personal development needs.
  • The person required to work within the Trust's management policies and procedures, both statutory and internal.He/she will undertake the administrative duties associated with the care of his/her patients, and the running of his/her clinical department under the direction of the lead clinician and/or directorate chair.
  • Infection Control is everyone's responsibility. All staff, both clinical and non- clinical, are required to adhere to the Trusts' Infection Prevention and Control Policies and make every effort to maintain high standards of infection control at all times thereby reducing the burden of Healthcare Associated Infections including MRSA.

  • FRCA or equivalent
  • Recognised training in Anaesthesia At least 5 years of anaesthetic practice

  • Higher Medical Degree, ATLS, ALS
