Job summary
We are looking for a Band 7 Ward Manager to come and join our team.
Complex Medical Unit A (CMU-A) is a 18 bedded inpatient unit offering excellent, evidence based care to patients following urgent medical admissions.
We are seeking an energetic, compassionate, highly motivated and experienced Registered Nurse who has experience of managing teams and working within the acute inpatient setting.
You will need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be resilient, creative, innovative, and flexible. You will be able to use your own initiative, work as part of the multidisciplinary team but also have the ability to work autonomously when required. You will need to be committed, focused, organised and adaptable to the changing needs of the service and also the wider organisation.
The successful applicant will need to aspire to be an inspirational leader who can nurture, motivate and develop a team and also have a passion to deliver excellence in all aspects of nursing care. A kind, compassionate and caring manner in supporting our patients, their families and our dedicated team of staff is vital to this role.
You will have high standards and be able to demonstrate excellent patient care, clinical and managerial skills.
You will have relevant experience in a leadership or managerial position, and have a good understanding of trust policy and HR processes.

Main duties of the job
- Use their expert knowledge and clinical judgement to lead the ward team to deliver high quality care.
- Monitor and maintain standards of care and provide this information to the Directorate.
- Ensure the provision of continuity of care.
- Assess and evaluate, with patients and /or carers, the effectiveness of the treatment and care provided and make changes as needed.
- Work across professional, organisational and system boundaries and proactively develop and sustain new partnerships and networks to influence and improve health, outcomes and healthcare delivery systems.
- To effectively manage human, financial, material and information resources.
