Job summary

Summary of the Role

Working closely with the Service Manager, this post will play a key role in ensuring that the designated clinical services meet key Operational, Finance, Quality and Governance objectives.

This includes:

o Working to ensure effective operational management and delivery of the service with support of the Service Manager

o Work with the Service Manager to manage the day to day running of the specified services to ensure all aspects of Operational performance are met

o Ensure that patient experience and quality of care is considered at all times

o Proactive involvement in the clinical pathway for the relevant sub speciality areas

o Working with Service Manager to ensure that patient access targets are met and working with clinical staff to balance demand and capacity where necessary.

o Working with Service Manager to ensure appropriate medical staffing resources are in place to meet the needs of the service.

o Contribute to budget and financial performance for the relevant sub-speciality areas.

o In conjunction with the Service Manager and Clinical Lead, assist with the preparation of business cases and service development proposals in response to the needs of the service

o Provide line management for relevant staff and teams.

o Represent the interests of the service at relevant service and directorate meetings. Deputising for the Service Manager as needed.

o Supporting implementation and roll out of Trust Wide initiatives

o The role will require the investigation of complaints and performance issues and the communication of this information to patients, families and members of the management team.

o The role will need to manage conflict and obstacles to change by the formulation of strategies and processes to overcome such barriers.

The post-holder will be responsible for the annual appraisal, objective setting and development plan for team members.
