Job summary

An exciting new opportunity has arisen on the GP Referral Unit (GPRU) for a Band 6 Specialist Nurse.

GPRU is an emergency clinic that assesses and treats patients with acute ENT and maxillofacial problems . We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated nurse willing to learn and develop their skills in providing specialist care.. There will be training and development opportunities and you will have the support of our highly experienced specialist multidisciplinary team.

Applicants should be flexible, efficient and caring with a well organised and professional, friendly manner. You should be able to work autonomously and have a willingness to learn and expand your skill set.

The unit is open from 7am to 10pm and you are required to work both early (7am-7:30pm) and late (9:30am-10pm) shifts, as well as weekends and bank holidays.

Main duties of the job

  • To co-ordinate and supervise the delivery of evidence based care to patients on the GP Referral Unit, managing the daily activity in the clinic.
  • To assess and treat patients with ENT and OMFS problems,
  • To provide clinical leadership, acting as a role model, and promote effective teamwork in the department;
  • To provide ambulatory care to patients and promote patient flow;
  • To ensure patient safety and quality of care, by undertaking audits and participating in service improvement projects;
  • To work at an enhanced clinical level as a specialist nurse, providing support to patients with ENT and OMFS problems.

  • Professional first level registration with NMC
  • 1 year post-registration experience as registered nurse

Desirable

  • Relevant ENT/OMFS training and/or course(s)
