Job summary
The Oxford Abdominal Organ Retrieval Team is one of 10 teams in the UK commissioned to take part in the National Organ Retrieval Service(NORS). NORS is a key component of the Organ Donation and Transplantation infrastructure by providing a national 24 hour service forretrieving organs from deceased donors. NORS teams are made up of highly skilled healthcare professionals led by a senior Transplantsurgeon.
Main duties of the job
The healthcare professionals who undertake NORS perioperative roles undergo competency based training following an agreed nationalcurriculum which includes e-learning, face to face education and mentored practice. Final competence is assessed and signed off by the OxfordNORS perioperative lead and the Clinical Lead for Organ Retrieval.We are recruiting an enthusiastic professional to a post that combines the roles of perfusion and preservation of organs, theatre scrubpractitioners and new technologies. The post holder will be performing either role during a retrieval procedure. Two perioperative professionalsare required per procedure.The post holder will provide technical support to the retrieval team and participate in the 24 hour on-call rota for organ retrieval. The post holderwill work flexibly alongside team members to meet the needs of the service.
An ability to undertake shift patterns including weekends and on-callsare an essential to this post. There is off site working and long travel times to reach many donor hospitals
