Locum Consultant in Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Post
Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust is looking to appoint a Consultant in Otolaryngology with an interest in Head and Neck. This is Locum post for a duration of 12 months. They must have experience of working within the NHS and be able to demonstrate a good command of the English language. The post holder's duties will be working at the The John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, the Churchill Hospital, Oxford and the Hospitals in Stoke Mandeville and High Wycombe. It is a condition of the appointment that the post holder will be willing to work in any of each Trust's locations.
Main duties of the job
Clinical
The post holder will provide a general ENT elective and emergency care, with an on call commitment of 1 in 12. They will provide a general ENT service at secondary care level and will participate in an emergency service cover at registrar level.
Teaching/Research
Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is a teaching hospital trust, and the post-holder will be required to participate in programmes for teaching clinical students, training junior doctors and in clinical examinations. It is expected that this will be an integral part of everyday clinical activity. The post-holder's contribution to teaching, training and research will be included in the regular job plan review.
Clinical Governance
The post-holder will participate in all clinical governance activities, including clinical audit, clinical effectiveness, risk management, quality improvement activities as required by the Trust, and external accrediting bodies.
Personal and Professional Development
The post-holder will be required to keep himself/herself fully up-to-date with their relevant area of practice and to be able to demonstrate this to the satisfaction of the Trust. Professional or study leave will be granted at the discretion of the Trust, in line with the prevailing Terms and Conditions of Service, to support appropriate study, postgraduate training activities, relevant CME courses and other appropriate personal development needs.
About us
A whole-time post as Locum Consultant in Otolaryngology is available at the Churchill Hospital in Oxford for 12 months. The post will have a large component of work within Buckingham Hospitals, Stoke Mandeville & High Wycombe.
The appointment is on a whole-time/part-time basis but applications are welcome from those who wish to job share.
