Job summary
The post holder will be responsible for the leadership, motivation and supervision of a Coding team. This will ensure that all team members are trained and audited to enable all admitted patient care episodes are accurately clinically coded by the abstraction and translation of the clinical patient information into ICD-10 and OPCS codes.
Liaison withconsultants, clinical staff and operational managers to promote clinical coding and resolve process issues is a key function of this role.
Main duties of the job
Clinical Coding Team Leader - AFC Band 6 - Full time
To ensure the teams workload is organised on a day to day basis to comply with the Trust's internal clinical coding targets and standards, as well as themandated timetable issued by Monitor on behalf of NHS England.
To manage the Clinical Coding Team, to work with with the Clinical Coding Operational Manager to ensure that team members define personal development plans, training needs and broader team development plans through appraisal process.
Take responsibility for the quality and accuracy of the coding of the team;working with the Coding Auditors to ensure all team members are coding to the standards specified by the HSCIC
Working with all the senior staff in the Coding Team; to co-ordinate and actively promote clinical coding in respect of its' importance and relevance to Clinical and non-clinical staff to ensure effective communications with clinicians, nurses and managers.
This position can include remote working. The Trust supports working from home and are happy to negotiate.
