Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 nurse to join the Advanced Cellular Therapy (ACT) service, which is a new multidisciplinary team based at the Churchill Hospital in Oxford. Its role is to provide innovative cellular therapies including CAR-T for local and tertiary patients across the Thames Valley region.
The team includes Band 8a Lead nurse, clinical and academic medical staff, as well physiotherapy, dietitian and supportive care colleagues. The post holder is key to managing and supporting the patient pathway and will liaise with the inpatient, outpatient, ambulatory, and research teams, NHBST services, CAR-T product companies and regional hospitals. Patient-centered care is our priority, so our patients receive high class, personalised treatment.
Advanced cellular therapies are commencing on an era of rapid development; this gives an opportunity for an experienced nurse to be at the forefront of these development, supporting and developing a high class clinical service for this group of patients.

Main duties of the job
The Senior Specialist Nurses will:
- Use their expert knowledge and clinical judgement to decide whether to refer patients for investigations and discuss potential diagnoses with members of the wider MDT.
- Decide on and carry out treatment, which may include advice on the prescribing of medicines, or referring patients to an appropriate specialist.
- Assess individuals, families and populations holistically using a range of different methods, using physical assessment and advanced history taking skills and other specialist health needs assessments.
- Ensure the provision of continuity of care.
- Assess and evaluate, with patients and /or carers, the effectiveness of the treatment and care provided and make changes as needed.
- Work autonomously within a wider health care team and as a lone practitioner.
- Work across professional, organisational and system boundaries and proactively develop and sustain new partnerships and networks to influence and improve health, outcomes and healthcare delivery systems.

Senior Specialist Nurses will:
- Work at an advanced level of practice within the specialist area of practice, autonomously as well as within a multi-disciplinary team and are self-directed.
