Job summary

We are seeking radiographers with sound radiographic experience, who will contribute positively and enthusiastically to the professional running and future development of the department. The post is suitable for a CT or MRI radiographer keen on supporting a 7 day service whilst working with state of the art equipment and optimising image techniques across clinical and research fields.

Opportunities are available for personal and professional development and commitment to an out of hours and weekend service is required.

Main duties of the job

The main duties would be to work as part of the CT and MRI teams to provide the required 7 day services to patients attending the Churchill Radiology Department, with the requirement to work across the radiology directorate as and when required.

The post holder would be expected to work across both CT and MRI including weekend and out of hours (on call) requirements, there would be the potential to train in Interventional Radiology in addition if this were of interest to the successful candidate.

Other specialist techniques found here include Hyperpolarised Xenon Imaging, High Intensity Focussed Ultrasound and SIRTS. The radiology department also currently provides diagnostic imaging services to over 150 research trials in conjunction with outside organisations including CRUK and Oxford University.

The Churchill Radiology Department is within the Cancer and Haematology Centre, opened in 2009. Primarily, we provide imaging services across the specialities found on site: Oncology, Radiotherapy, Breast, Renal, Urology, Transplantation, Chest Medicine, upper and lower GI, Head and Neck, Haematology and Infectious Diseases.

We have recently replaced both our CT scanners and currently have one 64 slice GE CT scanner and one 256 Slice GE CT Scanner with an additional 3rd CT being installed during 2023-24. We have 2 GE MRI Scanners, a 1.5T and 3T. We cover all types of scanning in CT this includes cardiac, pneumocolons, orthopaedic and all various CT guided interventional procedures including microwave ablations. In MRI we provide an equally broad range of scanning including MRI guided breast biopsies as well as supporting the MSK and Neuro imaging for other sites within the trust.

The department also includes 2 flat plate interventional rooms, 2 PET/CT scanners, 2 Gamma Cameras including SPECT CT, 4 ultrasound rooms, a Lithotripsy unit and 4 DR GE Plain film rooms.
