We are seeking a radiographer, who will contribute positively and enthusiastically to the professional running and future development of the department. The post is suitable for a radiographer keen to experience a wide range of modalities and support the 7 day service whilst working with state of the art equipment and optimising image techniques across clinical and research fields. The post would primarily involve General X-ray with an opportunity to train in other modalities
Opportunities are available for personal and professional development and commitment to an out of hours and weekend service is required.
Main duties of the job
General X-ray and fluoroscopy imaging working primarily at the Churchill Hospital, however working across the OUH directorate may be required.
The Churchill Radiology Department is within the Cancer and Haematology Centre, opened in 2009. Primarily, we provide imaging services across the specialities found on site: Oncology, Radiotherapy, Breast, Renal, Urology, Transplantation, Chest Medicine, upper and lower GI, Head and Neck, Haematology and Infectious Diseases.
The department includes 2 CT scanners currently, one 64 slice GE CT scanner and one 256 Slice GE CT Scanner, 2 GE MRI Scanners, a 1.5T and 3T, 2 PET/CT Scanner, 2 Interventional Rooms, 2 NM Scanners, 4 ultrasound rooms, a Lithotripsy unit and 4 DR rooms. We cover provide imaging predominantly for oncology and haematology patients but also specialise in , transplant, renal and urology and specialist techniques found here include Hyperpolarised Xenon Imaging, High Intensity Focussed Ultrasound and SIRTS. The radiology department also currently provides diagnostic imaging services to over 300 research trials in conjunction with outside organisations including CRUK and Oxford University.

- To work with departmental staff to ensure smooth running of the department and provide a high standard of radiographic service and patient care.
- To undertake radiographic duties within the department as specified by the duty rota.
- To participate in the weekend and nights 7 day working rota.
- To ensure consistent operation of the department policies, standards and procedures.
- To supervise student radiographers.
- To undertake training in additional modalities as required.
- To undertake intravenous injection of contrast media in line with department protocols as appropriate (training will be provided).
- Safety and Quality
- To ensure the proper and safe use of equipment and the implementation of all safety procedures.
- To participate in the department Health and Safety program and undertake risk assessments as required.
- To undertake and ensure that equipment quality assurance checks and monitoring procedures are carried out.
- To adhere to and take responsibility as laid down in the Ionising Radiation regulations, Health and Safety legislation and other subsequent relevant legislation.
- To instruct new staff and student radiographers in the correct operation of equipment and to give feedback on performance as required.
- To ensure all equipment faults are reported to the appropriate senior member of staff.
- To keep appropriate records up to date. To participate in the Department and Directorate Audit and Clinical Governance Programs.
