The University Hospitals of Derby and Burton are looking for an enthusiastic Locally Employed Foundation Year 2 Doctor in ENT at Queens Hospital in Burton on Trent.

This is a great opportunity to be appointed on a full time,4 month fixed term contract commencing April 2026 to the 4th of August 2026. There may be a possibility of an extension but as this is a Doctor in Training gap, this will be dependant on the Deanery allocation.

An opportunity has arisen for this appointmentto join out team on a fixed term post, to experience ENT in an outpatient setting, in theatre, the emergency department and on the wards. This post is for someone with an interest in ENT who has completed their foundation year 1 training or equivalent.

Main duties of the job

Participate in the day-to-day provision of routine and emergency medical care to a level appropriate to the Foundation Year 2 under the supervision of a senior member of the department.

You will liaise with nursing, medical and Para-medical staff to ensure smooth running of the service and will be expected to keep senior colleagues informed and seek advised as and when necessary.

This is a locally employed position and is not recognised for training. However, whilst in post you will be afforded the same training opportunities as substantive doctors in post. An active educational programme is operated in the Medical Educational Centre and within the various departments.

Every month there is a hospital Educational Half Day in the Medical Education Centre. One educational half day every six months is reserved for junior doctors' presentation.

  • Completed at least one years' full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis)
