UHBD are looking for motivated, enthusiastic doctors to join their Trust, on fixed term 12 month contracts. A busy, progressive, forward thinking Trust, we have been successfully recruiting to these posts for 9 years and would like you to join our consultants and teams working in Specialist and Acute Medicine.
Posts are available at 2 sites - Royal Derby Hospital and Queens Hospital Burton.
Main duties of the job
In conjunction with the wider medical team, your main duty will be day to day management of medical in-patients.
We would also like to offer you opportunities to increase your out-patient experience, build upon the skills you already have, learn new procedures and work in our friendly departments. There are opportunities to teach, perform Quality Improvement Projects and be part of our innovative teams.
You will receive educational and clinical supervision, £500 study leave budget (pro rata) and 5 days study leave (pro rata), access to an Eportfolio and be encouraged to join the weekly teaching programmes. Subject to individual requirements, there may be scope to attend ALS or IMPACT courses and we will facilitate your annual appraisal.

The post holder will rotate through 2-3 attachments of 4-6 month duration. - to be confirmed. There will be a variety of posts to choose from within Specialist Medicine: Respiratory, Gastroenterology, Diabetes and Endocrinology, Cardiology, Renal (RDH only), High dependency care (RDH only), Neurology (RDH only), Medicine for the Elderly, Stroke Medicine, as well as Acute and General Medicine.
The out-of-hours commitment includes a long day (Mon-Fri) every 3 weeks. In addition, there will be 1 in 4 weekend ward cover from 0800-1700 or 1200-2030 only with compensatory rest.
If rotating in Acute Medicine, the rota will typically involve a week of nights and late shifts, along with the usual weekday shifts.
Post holders will also be expected to help the department in times of short cover as needed for patient safety
Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice on application is essential.
Although not formal training posts and these are not accredited by Health Education East Midlands, we believe we can offer you good training in a busy, large hospital that has the benefits of a district general and the reputation of a teaching hospital.
