Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and innovative Urogynaecology Nurse Specialist to join our very dynamic and friendly team based in the Urology department at Queens Hospital Burton on Trent. To apply for this post you should ideally have previous experience in gynaecology nursing.

As a specialist nurse you will possess the ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team, supporting the care of Urogynaecology patients across the trust and liaising with primary care colleagues. You will work closely with other members of the specialist multidisciplinary team and therefore require excellent communication skills.

You will be expected to participate in the MDT meetings and develop your skills and knowledge to undertake nurse led clinics, including Urodynamics, pessary management and pre & post operative care.

Main duties of the job

Managing patients with benign urological and gynaecological conditions including, trial without catheter clinics, assessing patients urological symptoms post operatively and discharging them back to primary care and managing patients with 3rd degree tears.

Teaching intermittent self-catheterisation to patients with certain urological conditions that require this treatment.

To provide advice and support for patients via the telephone consultation clinic and help line.

Assessing patients for sizing and fitting of pessaries and monitoring these patients

To undertake nurse led urodynamic clinics

To actively participate in service development and support change in practice

To be responsible for the organisation of the monthly multidisciplinary meeting.
