Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for compassionate, motivated Registered Nurses to join our Adult Emergency Department (ED) at the Royal Derby Hospital.
As one of the busiest Emergency Departments in the country, we care for around 120,000 patients every year, offering a fast-paced and highly rewarding environment where no two days are the same.

Our department has expanded significantly due to increased demand and now includes:
- 7-bedded Resuscitation Unit
- 13-bay Initial Assessment Area
- 27-bay Majors Area
- Ambulatory area with a main waiting room, 4 triage rooms and 7 assessment bays
- Emergency Nurse Practitioner area
- New Urgent Treatment Centre, seeing up to 100 patients daily
- On-site helipad, supporting our Trauma Unit status

Main duties of the job
As a Band 5 Registered Nurse in our ED, you will:
- Care for a group of patients with the support of an experienced, multidisciplinary team
- Rotate through all areas of the department, including Majors A, Majors B, Resus, Ward 101, ambulatory, and assessment areas
- In time, undertake training in the Manchester Triage System, enabling you to work in Pitstop and Streaming
- Play a vital role in delivering safe, effective, person-centred care to patients with a wide range of emergency presentations This role offers constant variety, rapid decision-making and the opportunity to make a significant difference to patients during their most critical moments.
