Job summary
We are looking for a motivated and professional Receptionist to provide front-line administrative support across the Emergency Department and Acute Medical Units. You will act as the first point of contact for patients, relatives, and visitors, delivering a courteous and efficient service in a busy and sometimes challenging environment.
Key responsibilities include patient registration, maintaining accurate records, answering telephone and face-to-face enquiries, and supporting clinical staff in ensuring the smooth flow of patients through emergency and acute care.
The role requires excellent communication and organisational skills, the ability to remain calm under pressure, and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient-centred care.
Main duties of the job
You will be working front line in a challengingenvironment and should have the ability to interact with patients and staff on a daily basis in an efficient and friendly way and stay calm in any situation. You will be responsible for ensuring that the correct information is recorded using a variety of IT systems, whilst dealing with a variety of queries.You must be motivated, with good communication, inter-personal and administration skills.Acute Medicine is committed to developing and enhancing skills that you currently possess and will offer you the opportunity to gain further skills via a range of training courses designed to suit your own needs.The post is permanent. Hours will be worked as 11.5 hour shifts over a 24/7 rota. Shifts include days, nights, weekdays, weekends and bank holidays on a rota system. The post will cover all shifts and so flexibility is crucial to this role.
