Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and innovative nurse to join our very dynamic and friendly team based in the Urology department at Queens Hospital Burton on Trent. To apply for this post, you should ideally have previous experience in Urology nursing.
As a specialist nurse you will possess the ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team, supporting the care of Uro/oncology patients across the trust and liaising with primary care colleagues. You will work closely with other members of the specialist multidisciplinary team and therefore require excellent communication skills.
Main duties of the job
You will be expected to take an active role in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings and continually develop your clinical skills and knowledge. This will include supporting the management of patients attending a range of Uro/oncology appointments, such as receiving cancer results, attending stable prostate cancer follow-up clinics, undergoing local anaesthetic prostate biopsies, and accessing triage services for Urology concerns.
As part of the role, you will independently assess and triage patients, ensuring appropriate and timely ordering of investigations to support safe and effective pathways of care. You will contribute to high-quality patient management, working closely with the wider team to ensure seamless coordination across the service.
