Job summary
We are looking for a highly motivated, dynamic, innovative and flexible Senior Paediatric Nurse to join our team of Band 7 Paediatric Nurses supporting the Paediatric High Dependency Unit at University Hospital of Derby and Burton
As the Senior Sister/ Senior Charge Nurse, you will have demonstrable excellent clinical, organisational, communication and team building skills, evidence of successfully delivering high quality holistic care, support and teaching to young people, families and the wider caring team, and development of your current team. In addition, you will clearly demonstrate commitment to and development of the service to ensure all requirements of the agenda are met.
Applicants should hold RSCN qualification, relevant Degree level study and ability to study at Masters level and have a level 2 paediatric critical care unit and up to date in Advanced Paediatric Life Support.
Main duties of the job
- Taking the nurse in charge role whilst on duty, line management duties for staff.
- Duties include formal sickness management processes, supporting staff development, completing appraisals, managing mandatory training compliance and pastoral support.
- The role includes a high level of role modelling, adhering to trust policies and guidelines as well as our personal behavioural responsibility framework.
- The successful applicant must prioritise patient safety and care quality to support trust processes.
- You will have excellent communication and leadership skills and be able to demonstrate substantial post registration experience including extensive relevant Band 6 experience both managerially and clinically in a paediatric setting.
