The successful candidate will join a forward thinking and progressive team of 14Urologyprofessionals across both sites, supported by high quality colleagues in the wider MDT team, to provide an excellent service within ourUrologyDepartment based at Royal Derby Hospital.

TheUrologyservice at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton serves the population of Staffordshire, Burton Town, the city of Derby and surrounding areas, this represents a population of well over 1 million people.

Main duties of the job

Responsible for delivering a full range of outpatient and inpatient services at base sites and outreach clinics. The successful candidate will also provide emergencyurologysurgery as part of the relevant base siteConsultanton-call rota.

The UHDBUrologyService across Royal Derby Hospitals and Queens Hospital Burton has dedicatedurologyoutpatient facilities. A brand-new day unit for diagnostic working including prostate biopsies and urodynamic studies at QHB and a nine-theatre suite, with dedicatedurologytheatres equipped with HD Audio-visual facilities (STORZ OR1) at RDH.

We expect flexibility to be able to work across all sites of University Hospitals of Derby and Burton Foundation Trust should the need arise.

Essential

  • MBBS / MBChB or equivalent
  • FRCS or equivalent higher qualification
  • Life Support Qualifications ALS
  • Full GMC Registration with a license to practice at time of application
  • GMC Specialist Register for General Surgery Specialty OR within 6 months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at time of interview OR If applying for Full GMC Registration & Licence to Practice simultaneously with a CESR application, supporting documentary evidence must be provided at interview, to confirm an application has been submitted & is under consideration by the GMC.

Desirable

  • Additional higher medical / scientific degree relevant to the specialty

Clinical Knowledge & Skills

Essential

  • Adequate training and experience in Urology Surgery
  • Evidence of independent clinical practice
  • Up to date clinical knowledge in the relevant specialty & evidence of an understanding of its application
  • Minimum 6 months NHS experience
  • Minimum 6 months experience in surgery

Management & Administrative Experience

Essential

  • Commitment to Continuing Professional Development & the requirements of clinical governance.
