Deputy Director of Finance - Financial Services and Capital

Job summary
The NHS financial landscape is challenging and subject to increasing scrutiny. This role will jointly be responsible with the other Deputy Directors of Finance for ensuring the integrity of the general ledger, giving assurance to the Director of Operational Finance and Director of Strategic Finance that the financial information supplied is accurate and in accordance with professional accounting standards.
The role holder will lead the Financial Services teams across a number of areas, including financial accounting and controls, capital expenditure, treasury management and purchase and sales ledger. A continuous improvement mindsetwill be required, alongside professional curiosity to constructivelychallenge ways of working and established views.
Main duties of the job
Compassionate and supportive leadership, professionalising high quality and responsive outputs from the Financial Services teams.o Provision of sound financial accounting expertise to support a qualityaccounting service in accordance with professional accounting standards and NHS requirements.o Strong leadership of statutory financial duties including thesubmission of the Annual Consolidated Accounts and liaison with the external auditors.o Compliance and efficient development of a range of necessaryprocedures, controls and plans across Financial Services.o Robust reporting and forecasting to proactively monitor cash, capital expenditure and working capitalo Lead and develop the teams effectively and build strong working relationships with a range of stakeholders and partners
o Deputising for the Director of Operational Finance when relevant
