We're looking for a passionate and committed individual who shares our values and want to invest in continuously to improve and transform our services. The role also is the training lead for Microbiology including supporting apprenticeships, registration portfolios and specialist portfolios.
Key Requirements of the role:
- HCPC Registered Biomedical Scientist.
- Specialist Portfolio or equivalent experience.
- MSc or equivalent qualification.
- Advanced experience of microbiology.
- Experience in training and supporting registration and specialist portfolios in medical microbiology.
- Knowledge of recognition and identification of bacteria and other micro-organisms.
- Flexibility in your approach as there is the requirement to work out of hours and weekends.
- Excellent communication skills together with excellent organisational skills are essential requirements for this post.

Main duties of the job
- Responsible for management of a technical section within the Department, directing the work of the other scientific and support staff in the day to day analytical provision of a high quality, cost effective service.
- Provides and coordinates specialist clinical technical services including research and audit.
- Developing the section in line with departmental objectives.
- To provide a lead role in the training and instruction of staff within their section.
