Senior Physiotherapist - ED Therapy Team

Job summary

We are looking for a dynamic and motivated Band 6 physiotherapist to work in our Emergency Department Therapy Team service at Royal Derby Hospital. This service is part of a key multidisciplinary Frail Elderly Assessment team for the Trust that covers the Emergency Department, Frailty Same Day Emergency Care, Medical Assessment Unit and 2 General Medicine wards.

The team have direct working links with the trusts Frailty Specialist Nurses, Acute Consultant Geriatrician and Advanced Clinical Practitioners as part of a wrap around care approach to identified frailty and rehabilitation needs.

You will be part of a team fundamental in identifying the therapeutic needs of individuals utilising dual competencies and strength-based principals. The overall goal being to maximise individuals therapy potential resulting in admission avoidance and safe transfers of care from of the acute hospital setting. The team are engaged in early identification of patient's rehabilitation needs and delivery of ongoing rehab across all our clinical areas.

We have close working links with our community rapid response team engaging in clinician-to-clinician referrals for patients seen in our front door areas requiring a timely patient centred response.

The Senior Physiotherapy contingent of the ED Therapy team provide acute respiratory Physiotherapy to our front door areas, and will contribute to the Royal Derby Hospital respiratory on call rota.

Main duties of the job

You will work closely with Team Leads to provide clinical leadership and staff development to the dual professional team and adopt cross competency working principles. The team are engaged in continuous service development. Major work is being carried out by the team supporting trust wide encouragement of early mobilisation of patients positively impacting individuals care outcomes.

To provide advanced therapy assessment and treatment to patients on the medical Assessment Unit, Emergency Department and two acute medicine wards.

Respiratory Physiotherapy provision to front door areas. Contribution to trusts Respiratory Physiotherapy On call rota

To supervise and teach junior therapists, students and assistants working within the speciality, delegate workload and provide the necessary support

To work alongside the Team Leaders to develop, lead and evaluate the SDEC/MAU/A&E therapy Service to meet trust organisational targets and standards.

To be an integral member of the ED Therapy team, providing clinical and managerial support within the team.
