Job summary
Spasticity and Neuro-Splinting are a small and friendly team, who have an exciting opportunity for a part-time Band 3 Generic Therapy Assistant to join our specialist area on a secondment basis.
We deliver an outpatient spasticity management, and neuro-splinting service, for people who have experienced a neurological event, or have a progressive neurological condition. We work closely with inpatient, specialist outpatients, and community services.
You will require some experience of working with patients with complex needs, have highly developed interpersonal skills, and good communication skills. A commitment to providing excellent patient centre-care, and multidisciplinary working is essential. This role covers both physiotherapy and occupational therapy disciplines.
Spasticity and Neuro-splinting are based within Florence Nightingale Community Hospital, within the Specialist Rehabilitation Services.
We are a dynamic small team who work excellently as an MDT. We believe passionately in delivering a quality service for patients with neurological conditions, who experience spasticity and related complications.
Working days to be negotiated within operational delivery.
Main duties of the job
- To work flexibly within the Spasticity and Neuro-Splinting team, principally under the supervision of Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy staff, to provide Specialist Rehabilitation and Neuro-splinting services to patients with neurological conditions.
- To assist during the assessment and treatment of neurological patients, and to perform specific delegated tasks in relation to helping patients with activities of daily living, functional and mobility problems.
- To assist in the delivery of MDT clinics within specialist rehabilitation and perform tasks relating to outcome measurement as well as assist in the assessment of patients during clinic.
- To assist in the assessment and fabrication of bespoke and off the shelf splints or orthoses for patients with neurological conditions.
- In addition, there will be several non-clinical duties such as clerical or housekeeping, which aid the efficient running of the team and clinics.
