Psychotherapist /Counsellor

Job summary

The postholder will be a key senior member of UHDB'S Occupational Health team responsible for the in-house specialist psychotherapy service in order to improve the psychological health and wellbeing of the workforce. The postholder will be required to provide clinical supervision to registered and pre-registered counsellors and psychological therapists where appropriate. The postholder is required to work autonomously within national professional guidelines, the professional code of ethics, the policies and procedures of the Occupational Health (OH) Staff Support Service, and the relevant policies of the University Hospitals of Derby and Burton Trust (UHDB)

As required, the postholder will be expected to:

  • Provide psychological therapies to NHS staff and maintain a caseload.
  • Undertake psychological therapy assessments including risk assessments and provide an appropriate intervention including referring on to more appropriate services. Maintain client records appropriately and collect anonymised data for organisational feedback.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of high-quality Occupational Health services to all client groups

Main duties of the job

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate psychological therapist to deliver high-quality therapeutic services and clinical supervision within our Occupational Health team. The role involves providing evidence-based psychological assessment, formulation, and intervention to employees, supporting both individual mental health and organisational wellbeing. You'll supervise other clinicians, manage complex cases, assess and manage risk, and contribute to multidisciplinary collaboration across HR and Occupational Health. The successful candidate will uphold clinical governance standards, maintain detailed records, and actively contribute to service development, all while promoting a supportive and ethical therapeutic environment.
