An exciting opportunity has arisen to join The Coronary Care Unit for a 6 month secondment. We are looking for an enthusiastic nurse with minimum of 3 years cardiology experience looking to develop their career further into a Band 6 role.

We are a 13 bedded high dependency unit, caring for critically unwell patients ranging from a number of cardiac conditions. As a Band 6 sister/charge nurse you will be responsible for co-ordinating the care of the patients in the unit and ensuring delivery of high quality care to our patients from the team.

Main duties of the job

As a Band 6 Sister on the critical care your duties will include the following skills on a shift by shift basis:

-Interpretation and assessment of ECG's.

-Co-ordination and management of The Coronary Care Unit including the co-ordination of admissions and discharges and managing capacity within the unit.

-Ensuring safe staffing levels are maintained by management of rosters and escalating to the ward manager as required

-Providing support and guidance to junior members of the team caring for critically ill patients.

-Working within the multi disciplinary team to ensure safe and effective care is delivered to critically ill patients.

-Ensuring The Coronary Care Unit has sufficient resources to deliver high quality care and escalate to senior staff if there is a deficit.

-Actively engage with staff's development and supervision through education, appraisals and mentorship.

-Adhere to current policies in relation to infection control, Health and Safety and Well being of the staff
