Senior Clinical Educator - Breast

Job summary

The Breast Senior Clinical Educator is responsible for coordinating the medical students' Breast module as part of the student's surgical rotation. This involves conducting weekly teaching sessions on Breast theory, identifying signs and symptoms of both benign and malignant conditions, and teaching how to perform a clinical breast examination.

This involves the preparation and support of clinical teaching sessions, whether in one-on-one settings, small groups, or during lectures. It also involved conducting suitable training sessions, alongside the promotion of students' growth in essential skills, knowledge, and attitudes within clinical environments.

Main duties of the job

  • To contribute to the co-ordination of the breast module with other clinical educator colleagues.
  • Deliver & facilitate Breast examination teaching session face to face with the use of power point, Flip chart etc, supporting students with reporting back findings and management plan.
  • Formal assessment of Breast examination technique and reporting, offering and providing feedback. Support medical students during their junior and senior surgery rotations including speciality module in female cancers.
  • To apply specialist knowledge across a wide range of clinical conditions, procedures and practices, to deliver teaching that is of a clinically advanced nature based on the best available evidence, underpinned by advanced study.
  • Facilitating and supporting clinical skills sessions for students.
  • Attend relevant training programmes and courses to support the role. Performing Dops & work-based assessments.
  • Facilitate OSCE mock exam scenario practice for Breasts or other specialities and support with exams.
  • To supervise, educate and assess the performance of medical students; this involves working with the University to ensure the standard of practice and teaching meets the standard set by the qualification level.
  • Participating in important meetings, engaging in mid-term presentations, attending core skills induction week, and creating educational resource materials.
