An excellent opportunity has arisen for three enthusiastic Cardiologists to join a current team of 16 highly performing and productive consultant colleagues at the University Hospitals Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust.

These posts offer a chance to shape the future of one of the UK's largest non-surgical cardiac centres, serving a catchment of over 1 million residents across Derbyshire and East Staffordshire.

We are currently recruiting to the following sub-specialty posts:

o 1x Consultant Interventional Cardiologist (Coronary Intervention)o 1x Consultant Cardiologist with interest in Heart Failure and Complex Deviceso 1x Consultant Cardiologist with interest in Cardiac Imaging

The Derby and Burton Heart centre is one of the largest non-surgical units in the UK, offering state-of-the-art diagnostic and interventional facilities. We work closely with regional cardiothoracic centres including Glenfield Hospital (Leicester), Trent Cardiac Centre (Nottingham) and Royal Stoke Hospital (Stoke on Trent)

Main duties of the job

Consultant Interventional Cardiologist (Coronary Intervention)

You will:

  • Join a team delivering 24/7 Primary PCI, participating in the 1:7-1:8 PPCI rota.
  • Work in our three modern catheter labs at Derby.
  • Perform part of our ~1300 PCI cases per year, including CTO, IVUS, OCT, IVL, rotablation, and IABP.
  • Support the wider general cardiology team and take part in the consultant of the week rota.

Consultant Cardiologist - Heart Failure & Complex Devices

You will:

  • Work alongside three consultants in developing our expanding heart failure services, including the ambulatory heart failure unit at Burton.
  • Contribute to a growing complex device service, with access to dedicated device lab.
  • Participate in a 1:7-8 general cardiology on-call rota covering CCU and dedicated consultant of week cardiology wards.
  • Support general cardiology while leading developments in heart failure and cardiac rhythm device therapy.

Consultant Cardiologist - Cardiac Imaging

You will:

  • Join a team of three imaging consultants in delivering and developing advanced cardiac imaging services.
  • Contribute to BSE-accredited echocardiography, TOE, DSE, CT, and MRI services.
  • Expand our services in line with NICE CG95 guidance and rising demand.
  • Participate in a 1:7-8 general cardiology on-call rota covering CCU and dedicated consultant of week cardiology wards
