Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a motivated and enthusiastic team committed to the delivery of the highest standards of care for Upper GI Cancer patients.
The purpose of this post is to support the Nursing team, ensuring a smooth and efficientservice for patients throughout their pathway and follow up care.
You should have excellent communications skills, be effective in working closely with clinical and non-clinical staff with a flexible, patient centred approach. You should have the ability to empathise with this vulnerable patient group.
Main duties of the job
You will support the Upper GI Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist team with administrative duties such as answering phone calls to both other professionals and patients, triaging these calls and referring to the most appropriate service or Clinical Nurse Specialist, booking appointments, and completing referrals if required. You will be involved with and assist in the implementation of the recovery package, assisting the nursing team with holistic needs assessments, end of treatment summaries and follow up on actions not requiring Clinical Nurse Specialist support. You will attend multi-disciplinary team meetings with the Clinical Nurse Specialist and assist in managing the workload generated from this. The post holder will sign post patients to relevant support services and act with compassion and understanding to patients and their family members. As part of the Clinical Nurse Specialist team you will work with many member so the multi disciplinary team, referring to outside agencies as appropriate and advising patients on local services support.
