Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic and creative individual who is looking to further their career and help us develop our research activity. A vacancy has arisen for Band 4 Clinical Research Practitioners to join an established team in supporting clinical research at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton, Royal Derby Hospital and Queen's Hospital Burton.

We have growing portfolios in Cancer, General Surgery, Gastroenterology, Renal, Diabetes, Rheumatology, Cardiology, and Immunology including vaccine trials among other areas.

The post holder will be responsible for assessing and managing the care pathways for research participants. This will involve the recruitment, education and monitoring of research participants and the collection and documentation of accurate data.The role involves using an in-depth knowledge of compliance with local, national and international research regulations. The caseload for the role will vary according to the complexity of trials in the portfolio.

While experience in research and/or one of the specialities mentioned above would be desirable relevant training will be provided for successful applicants. The ideal candidate to join our team in Research & Development will be dedicated to improving patient care, eager to learn, have an eye for detail and be able to demonstrate excellent documentation, organisational and time management skills

Main duties of the job

Working directly with experienced Research Nurses, plus establishing sound working relationships with the multi-disciplinary teams in the above specialities and be actively involved in the recruitment of patients into a range of research studies, managing their own caseload as well as supporting colleagues.

Your duties will include, but not limited to, obtaining consent, data and sample collection, liaising with academic and commercial sponsor organisations, both national and international, and much more.You will be expected to liaise with patients, families, health care professionals and the wider R&D team.

This post would suit a nurse associate or an experienced HCA or equivalent with a background in clinical research with the necessary confidence and ability to direct and manage their own workload. Please note that this is a full time post worked over 5 days (Monday to Friday) normally.
