Job summary
As a Pathology Receptionist you will be joining our existing friendly and hardworking team in the Reception/Phlebotomy Outpatients department at the Chesterfield site of Derbyshire Pathology.
You should hold GCSE English or equivalent and have good IT skills. An NVQ level II in Customer Services and/or experience of admin work/customer services/telephone enquiries is desirable but not essential as full training will be given.
This is an administrative patient/customer facing role and you would be expected to provide efficient, effective and friendly reception service to patients and visitors attending the Pathology/Phlebotomy department.
You will be expected to stand and/or sit for extended periods whilst dealing with patients, telephone calls, computer work and stock so the ability to multitask and work flexibly is essential.
Main duties of the job
You will provide both face to face and telephone reception services using written and verbal communication to liaise with patents, staff, ward/units, directorates and external agencies to support an efficient patient service.
You will book-in patients by checking and using the correct demographics to record and create appointments using trust applications to forward the patients pathway maintaining confidentiality at all times
- Transport and ambulances can be arranged for patients who attend the department
- Administration tasks such as filing, photocopying, fault reporting, taxi logs, visitors book and arranging follow up appointments are completed daily
- Maintain the GP/ward stock/Phlebotomy area consumables keeping a clean, tidy and safe environment
- You must be flexible to cover annual leave and sickness to support the needs of the service
