Job summary
The University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust Gastroenterology team are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join their team as a Teaching Fellow.This is a fixed term post for 12 months, but with the potential to extend the post to 24 months depending on satisfactory performance.
The candidate would join a team of 17 consultants, together with trainees and specialist nurses in providing specialist Gastroenterology and Hepatology services within a large teaching hospital.
The Gastroenterology team are a friendly, dedicated and forward thinking team. There are separate luminal Gastroenterology and Hepatology wards, a dedicated, purpose built 7 room endoscopy suite, elective procedure unit and day case unit. The team are involved with research and patients may be approached to take part in clinical trials. The gastroenterology/hepatology service includes assessment, investigation and treatment of disorders of the oesophagus, stomach, bowel, pancreas and liver.

Main duties of the job
This role plays a critical part in the delivery of teaching in Gastroenterology. The successful candidate will deliver 5 fixed teaching sessions per week (including bedside teaching, tutorials, lectures and skills assessments). They will also undertake 1 outpatient clinic. The remaining sessions can be used to gain greater clinical experience, undertake quality improvement/ research projects etc. The final timetable will, therefore, be developed in conjunction with the candidate's clinical supervisor.
