Job summary
The Department of Urology at University Hospitals of Derby and Bruton is seeking to recruit a Senior Clinical Fellow for 12-months, starting in August 2025, based at the Royal Derby Hospital.
The department is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced individual to join its forward-thinking and proactive Urology team of 12 consultants, who will assist in delivering a full range of urological services.
This position is designed to offer advanced experience in urological surgery, with previous candidates having successfully secured National Training Numbers following their placement at Royal Derby Hospital. The appointed fellow will be actively involved in emergency and elective urology activities, including inpatient theatres, day case procedures, and outpatient clinics. Furthermore, the post holder will participate in the Resident Doctor on-call rota within the urology department.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will have previous experience in the urology speciality, with the expectation that the post holder will undertake independent outpatient clinics, flexible cystoscopy sessions and act as first assistant in theatre. Undertaking the continued care & treatment of patients pre and post-operatively.
The post holder will have exposure to a wide range of training opportunities in advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgery as well as the opportunity to attend departmental teaching.

- MBBS/MBBCh or equivalent medical qualification
- MRCS or approved overseas equivalent
- Full GMC with a licence to practice at time of application
- Post CCT or within 12 months of completion of CCT
