Are you interested in working as a Paediatric Specialist Dietitian for University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust?
An opportunity has arisen for a Permanent Band 6 Paediatric Dietitian to join our friendly, supportive and forward thinking paediatric dietetic team. The paediatric team delivers services across University Hospitals of Derby and Burton (UHDB) and the team are well integrated as part of the Children's Hospitals at both Royal Derby Hospital and Queens Hospital Burton.
As a teaching hospital we have a wealth of experience across many clinical areas, and we work closely with our tertiary centres in the surrounding area for shared care patients. We have a high numbers of patients, and high flow through the service so experience of managing a busy caseload is essential.
We are constantly looking at ways to empower our team, drive Quality Improvement initiatives and provide a strong, positive team culture, with emphasis on wellbeing and resilience within the department. This post is predominantly based at Royal Derby Hospital but may involve some working at Queens Hospital Burton. We can offer a minimum of 30 hours per week, although 37.5 hours per week is preferred.
Main duties of the job
The department currently provides a service to multiple areas that you would expect within an acute trust including food sensitivity and allergy, coeliac disease, cardiac conditions, Cystic Fibrosis, Metabolic conditions, PKU as well as inpatient and outpatient services and children who requiring Home Enteral Feeding.
We provide support to the epilepsy service managing ketogenic diets, offer expert advice into a feeding clinics and offer a comprehensive service to children with diabetes. There is scope for rotation within the team to reflect the needs of the establishment.
You will work as an active member of the Paediatric Dietetic team and wider department. We are a welcoming, forward thinking and supportive team of paediatric dietitians with support from dietetic assistant practitioners. We are routinely involved in project work and service improvement and follow evidence-based practice.
We pride ourselves on having a very close relationship with the wider MDTs within the hospital, including working with consultants, specialist nurses, speech and language therapy, physiotherapists, psychologists and the play team. This gives us the opportunity for advanced clinical supervision as respected members of the team.
