Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic Clinical Scientist to ideally act as Principal Clinical Scientist and MPEin the Nuclear Medicine department. You will provide general scientific support for Molecular Radiotherapy and Diagnostic Nuclear Medicine services alongside other members of the Nuclear Medicine Physics team. You will act as one of the Medical Physics Experts (MPE) in Nuclear Medicine under the IRMER regulations.
Main duties of the job
You will play a key role in the Molecular Radiotherapy service and managing equipment. You will be part of a small team of Nuclear Medicine Physics staff and help to supervise junior members of the team. The post-holder will also work closely with the Principal Clinical Technologist and ARSAC licence holders.
There are opportunities to be involved in a range of activities, including reporting and Radiopharmacy, depending on the experience and interests of the candidate.
The Nuclear Medicine Service sits with the Imaging Business Unit at UHDB and is progressive and friendly. It provides a full range of diagnostic imaging and non-imaging studies along with a number of molecular radiotherapy treatments. The department has modern facilities with three gamma cameras, two with SPECT-CT, and its own dedicated Radiopharmacy manufacturing unit. There are plans to install a new gamma camera with diagnostic CT capacity in the next 12 months and options are being explored to provide a PET/CT service on site.
The department has a strong track record of developing and training staff and therefore we would welcome applications from candidates who might not fully meet the job specification as yet, but have the energy and enthusiasm to develop into the role. Candidates working towards HCPC registration as a Clinical Scientist would also be considered. Appointment would be at the appropriate band depending on experience.
