Job summary

Exciting opportunities have arisen for an enthusiastic, flexible, and motivated individual to join our South Derby shire Bowel Cancer Screening administration team in a Pathway Co-ordinator role on a permanent basis .

You should be educated to a good standard of English to GCSE or equivalent and have an advanced level of IT literacy with experience of using a range of IT applications.

To provide an efficient Bowel cancer screening waiting list service to the consultants and their teams working flexibly with the clinical members of the team.

You must have read the contents of the Job Description and feel confident that you are able to fulfil the requirements.

The hours of work will be 18.25hrs.

Main duties of the job

  • To act as the point of contact for patients and medical staff on behalf of the consultant and his/her team ensuring that all queries are resolved with skill, sensitivity and in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Responsible for the monitoring / selection of future waiting list patients.
  • An understanding of the 18-week RTT process and a knowledge of the Trust Patient Access Policy and an agreement to adhered to these policies according to National Trust Guidelines.
  • Working to strict Trust and Government policies and Waiting list management and 18 weeks guideline
  • Accurately informing patients/clinicians of outcomes and information to influence the effective service delivery for all patients.
  • Input patient information onto the various IT systems.
  • Prepare and print daily waiting lists as appropriate.
  • Contact patients to arrange appointment dates in accordance with the Trust's Booking Policy and the guidelines of the screening programme.
  • Ensure that notes and results are prepared and available prior to the patient episode or admission.
  • To ensure that urgent test results/correspondence is brought to the immediate attention of theConsultant or his/her team.
  • Liaise effectively with wards and departments within the hospital.
  • To escalate any urgent problems to a senior manager.
  • Undertake necessary training as and when required by the Trust or the Screening Programme
