Our early careers to specialist pharmacist pathway is a person-centred development programme, individualised to you, with a team of Advanced Clinical Pharmacists on hand to support you in achieving your goals. (Pathway overview available on request)

As a rotational pharmacist you will move through all the specialities offered at acute hospital sites, additionally, you will provide some input into the community hospitals that are part of our UHDB family. In the future there may also be opportunities to rotate between the Derbyshire and Staffordshire sites.

Main duties of the job

In the role of rotational clinical pharmacist you will be a valued member of the ward-based multidisciplinary team providing clinical review of inpatient medicines use; intervening, advising and facilitating to ensure safe and effective prescribing and supply of medications. Being part of the multidisciplinary team involves working closely with medical, nursing, allied health, and pharmacy staff.

Development of staff is important to us at UHDB, and we actively promote and provide mentorship for further funded development through Post-Graduate Diplomas, Independent Prescribing, or equivalent qualifications as appropriate to your stage of development.

If you are currently undertaking a diploma, or wish to undertake further clinical development, we are happy to support where it is relevant to your role. In return, we expect the successful candidate to be involved in teaching and supporting trainee pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in their development.
