Senior Occupational Therapist / Senior Physiotherapist - ED Team

Job summary

We are looking for a dynamic and motivated Band 6 therapist to work in our Therapy Admission Avoidance Frailty service at Royal Derby Hospital to cover a 9 month secondment period. This service is part of a key multidisciplinary Frail Elderly Assessment team for the Trust that covers the Emergency Department, Medical Assessment Unit and Acute Short Stay wards.

You will be part of a team fundamental in preventing admission, facilitating safe discharge or transfer and undertaking comprehensive geriatric assessment.

You will work closely with Team Leads to provide clinical leadership and staff development to the dual professional team and adopt generic working principles. The post is open to either Occupational Therapists or Physiotherapists.

Main duties of the job

To provide advanced therapy assessment and treatment to patients on the medical Assessment Unit, Emergency Department and short stay wards.

To supervise and teach junior therapists, students and assistants working within the speciality, delegate work load and provide the necessary support

To work alongside the Team Leaders to develop, lead and evaluate the MAU/A&E therapy Service to meet trust organisational targets and standards.

To be an integral member of the ED Therapy team, providing clinical and managerial support within the team.
