An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic person to join our team for 8 months covering maternity leave. The main function of this role is to provide valuable clerical support to Ward 310
Ward 310 provides 24/7 care to acutely unwell patients with Diabetes and Endocrinology problems and also General Medical patients.
Receptionist cover may be needed 7 days a week between the hours of 7am - 7.30pm.
Receptionist are a vital part of our team on Ward 310.
They work closely with a wide range of disciplines. The Role is varied and requires a flexible approach. Ward based knowledge is desirable with a range of administrative procedures including case note tracking.
An ability and willingness to be involved in service improvement including data collection and active involvement in Quality Improvement Projects . The Successful candidate will also be required to support other colleagues with admin duties and support the development and adaptation of the role of the receptionist to mirror the demands of the Unit.
Your role as a receptionist is vital to the overall smooth running of the ward, you will be the first people our patients and visitors as well as staff will be greeted by.
Main duties of the job
The role of the receptionist within the ward is varied and fast paced, encompassing a variety of responsibilities to support the high standard of care given to patients. This includes but is not limited to:
- Using clinical software to manage patient information and location.
- Appropriately filing patient notes
- Admitting/discharging patients using the Trust systems
- Engaging in communication with patients, relatives, visitors and staff alike
- Scanning documentation
- Ensuring adequate levels of clerical supplies
- Liaising with other areas of the hospital to help support patient care.
- Working knowledge of Systems such as Excel, Power Point, Word, saffron
- Taking telephone calls
- Making appointments for patients
- Non clinical care of patients ie. supporting them with post/phone calls/ordering taxis/complete feedback
- Admin support to the sisters ie. Type letters/take minutes of meetings
- Manage post
- Audits
You will be required to use a number of Trust databases to admit and discharge patients as well as locating case notes. Your duties will also involve meeting and greeting patients and carers as well as the many visiting staff.
