Are you enthusiastic, highly motivated and a hard working health care professional looking for a new challenge?

We are seeking full or part time health care professionals who are interested in training to be a Sonographer. It is essential that you are patient focused, enthusiastic and self-motivated.

We would welcome candidates from any AHP background with an up to date professional registration. Evidence of on-going CPD and learning related to your areas of practice is essential. Evidence of recent observation within our ultrasound departments is desirable.

This will be a 2 year, consecutive training programme developing skills in General Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynaecology ultrasound with potential to apply for a Band 7 Sonographer vacancy after completion of the first year of training. This will be cross site, with training located across all of our University Hospitals of Derby and Burton (UHDB) ultrasound departments, including community sites.

Depending on candidates knowledge and skills, the use of the Annex 21 framework, may be appropriate. Pay details to be discussed with successful candidate

Main duties of the job

Our imaging departments at UHDB have close links with the University of Derby which enables us to support both planned in-service Ultrasound training opportunities and regional initiatives.

Our current training programme includes training for students in a variety of ultrasound specialities including obstetrics, gynaecology and general medical ultrasound.

Students are supported by a team of dedicated mentors and a preceptorship programme has recently been implemented to support newly qualified Sonographers to achieve the high standards required by Sonographers at our Trust.

The ultrasound departments at RDH and QHB currently have 12 scan rooms in Obstetrics, 22 in general ultrasound plus other scan rooms within the hospital and in the Community.

We have a rolling equipment replacement programme which ensures equipment is state of the art. We were recently awarded a "Good" rating from the CQC, with the Imaging Department receiving individual recognition.
