Job summary
To work in conjunction with all Derby Drivability staff to provide a high quality driver, passenger assessment and advise service whilst being an integral member of the team. You will give specialist, independent telephone or email advise and information. You will use your clinical skills to screen referrals, assess and with the driving evaluator, make decisions on a person's ability to learn to drive, resume or continue driving. Giving feedback on the outcome of the assessment process is a vital part of the role as is coordinating the writing and preparation of the subsequent report.
This post is based at Derby Drivability, but is likely to involve working at satellite services which could be approximately a one hour drive from base and will require flexibility with working hours.
Full time and Part time positions are available.
Main duties of the job
- To deliver, in conjunction with colleagues and clients / carers, an individualised & holistic assessment of a client's driving ability in relation medical fitness to drive. Clients may present with diverse and complex physical, cognitive and social car needs.
- Using advanced OT skills undertake the clinical assessment of patients to access and load / unload wheelchairs into their vehicles.
- To undertake all aspects of clinical duties at Derby Drivability as an autonomous practitioner.
- To carry out advanced OT assessments of patients with diverse and complex medical presentations, for example learning Disabilities, dementia, amputation, cognition, psychological and social needs
- Use your specialist knowledge and clinical reasoning skills when assessing the suitability of a clients driving ability
