Job summary
Applications are invited for a fixed-term (12 months) Locally Employed Senior Clinical Fellowship in the Colorectal department based at Royal Derby Hospital starting in October 2024.
This post is a one-year fellowship designed to provide intensive training in advanced minimally invasive surgery including laparoscopic rectal surgery, transanal minimally invasive surgery (TAMIS and TEO), and single incision laparoscopic surgery.
The department are looking for an enthusiastic experienced individual to join a forward thinking and proactive colorectal team of 9 consultants
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to obtain a good volume of training in minimally invasive surgical procedures.
You will also be expected to run independent 2ww clinics as well as supporting the team across all areas of elective activity including theatres, day case, outpatients, endoscopy and ward rounds. You will be a senior member of team, providing leadership and support to the junior doctors.
The appointee will be expected to participate in the Department's undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programme. This is a very busy department offering exposure to a wide range of services, teaching and research opportunities.
Fellows will have protected time for research and should expect to have two manuscripts by the end of the fellowship.
There is opportunity to participate in the middle grade on call general surgical rota (1:17) - 50% slot.
