Job summary
This position is an 18 month Fixed Term/Secondment/ Contract
The post is full time 37.5 hours per week over Monday-Friday.
We are looking for a dedicated, enthusiastic and experienced Dermatology Specialist Nurse with an interest and understanding of skin cancer/ Sarcoma.
The post holder will be a designated speciality nurse for Dermatology within the Hospital and will provide specialist advise to healthcare professionals, patients, relatives and carer's for both inpatients and outpatients. Within the scope of professional practice, extend clinical skills and knowledge to change the emphasis where appropriate of delivery of care and treatment in the patient's interests and clinical advancements.
Involvement in MDT discussions and managing patients follow ups.
The successful candidate will work in a friendly, close knit multidisciplinary team of Oncologists, Specialist nurses, surgeons, East Midlands Sarcoma Service and Navigator and admin support.
Main duties of the job
The successful individual will be part of the Skin Cancer and Sarcoma CNS team, working across UHDB sites
The post holder will:
- Provide high quality care to patients that require systemic anti cancer treatments and support for patients diagnosed with skin cancer and Sarcoma .
- Discussing surgical procedures and helping patients make informed decisions regarding their care plans/ treatments
The successful applicant will have responsibility for their own case load with support from the Consultants and Senior Nurse Specialists. They will ensure high standards of nursing care
- Participate in the NMC recommendations on the scope of professional practice and undertake agreed clinical practices following hospital, National and Consultant guidelines, offering support to skin cancer/ sarcoma patients.
- Participates in nurse led clinics:- Skin cancer education and support of new diagnosis.
- To assist with the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the care of the patients receiving treatments.
- Involvement with ward/day case and out patient settings.
- Excellent communication skill required- daily liaising with multiple hospital trusts, departments and a multitude of teams/ staff
