Job summary
University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust (UHDB) has one of the largest maternity services in the UK, providing maternity care across Derbyshire and into Staffordshire.
We want to provide woman-centred, family friendly care and offer a range of models of midwifery and obstetric care provision. This includes midwife-led care, continuity of carer models, and specialist care provided by our obstetric teams for women with more complex needs, as well as community midwifery services.
If you have an interest in bereavment support and want to work as part of a dedicated team then this new role as a band 6 Bereavement Support midwife would provide an excellent career opportunity. You will work as part of the team to ensure that the Bereavement services are operationally safe, effectively.
Main duties of the job
To provide care, support and practical advice to women and their families following the loss of their baby through Miscarriage, Stillbirth, Neonatal or Sudden Unexpected Infant Death Syndrome.
Working closely alongside the Bereavement team senior midwives and the Matron, the post holder will act as a positive role model and will provide sound professional knowledge and leadership to all members of the multidisciplinary team within Service for Women and Children.
A high standard of care will be maintained using up-to-date evidence based practice data for this specific client group. The post holder will also assist in providing statistical data for Local and National Reports.
