Trauma and Orthopaedic Consultant with a special interest in soft tissue and lower limb arthroplasty
The Trauma and Orthopaedic Business unit has a fantastic opportunity for a full time Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon, specialising in Trauma, lower limb soft tissue and arthroplasty.
University Hospitals of Derby and Burton provides orthopaedic services in both Derby and Burton. This post will be based at Queen's Hospital in Burton but there will be an expectation to work across site.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will provide, along with the existing team, the effective delivery of both Trauma and Elective Services. The appointee will be expected to take a full share in the provision of an emergency services providing both adult and Paediatric trauma care. It is essential you must be on the specialist register with the GMC or be within six months of obtaining CCT. The Trust has undergone a successful merger between Derby Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in Derby and Queens Hospital in Burton making University Hospitals of Derby and Burton the second largest Orthopaedic Unit in the country with 11 dedicated Orthopaedic Lamina Flow theatres and a further two shared Day Case Lamina Flow Day Case Theatres in the treatment centre in the grounds of Queens Hospital in Burton. We have also recently opened a brand new state of the art orthopaedic elective treatment centre on the grounds of the Queens Hospital with two dedicated lamina flow theatres for arthroplasty.
UHDB is based over 5 hospital sites - the Royal Derby Hospital, Queens Hospital in Burton, Samuel Johnson in Litchfield, Sir Robert Peel in Tamworth and London Road Community Hospital in Derby.

- Possession of FRCS (Tr & Orth) or equivalent
