Job summary
To date there has not been a more exciting time to come and join our Neonatal Physiotherapy service at University Hospital of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust.
As a result of new funding, the post will involve working at both trust sites, Royal Derby Hospital on the LNU and at Queens Hospital Burton SCBU alongside the current physiotherapist.
We are looking for a highly motivated, experienced and innovative Physiotherapist to join our multidisciplinary Neonatal /Paediatric Therapy Team. The successful applicant will be responsible for a specialist and complex caseload of infants on the neonatal units and therefore will need comprehensive knowledge and skills in clinical assessment techniques, advanced handling skills, Neurodevelopmental care of premature and vulnerable infants and supporting the principles of Family Integrated Care.
This opportunity will give the candidate the opportunity to join the current Allied Health Professional team on the established units, and to be instrumental in the delivery and development of the therapy service as well as supporting and guiding less experienced staff and higher educational student.
You can expect access to relevant training, clinical supervision and peer support running alongside a yearly performance development review.

Main duties of the job
- To be part of a group of Clinical Specialists for the Neonatal Physiotherapy Speciality within the Trust, coordinating the Trust wide service development and evaluation and promote and ongoing culture of change and improvement within the service. The post holder will be expected to work across the acute sites at Royal Derby Hospital Level II facility and Queens Hospital Burton's SCBU.
- To act as a highly specialist autonomous clinician with advanced assessment and treatment skills.
- To provide clinical leadership in the field of neonatal Physiotherapy across the acute sites of the University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust, promoting the highest standards of patient care throughout the speciality, in line with local and national standards, policies and procedures.
- To provide highly specialist advice and education to physiotherapy staff, MDT members, nursing staff and other clinical specialities within the Trust and parents and families.
- The post holder will work closely with the multidisciplinary team on the neonatal units including Nursing staff, medical team, other Allied Health Professionals and support staff. This will include the formation of written and verbal reports on patients status and progress to enable effective collaborative working and for ongoing services following discharge.
