Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a well organised individual to help provide an efficient administrative and front of house function,including admission and release of deceased, andsupport the Service Manager & team of APT's & MEO's in the running of a safe, secure, effective and comprehensive mortuary and Medical Examiner's office/service for the needs of the Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, HM Coroner and the Community.

Main duties of the job

To receive the deceased and ensure that they are accurately identified, registered, weighed, measured and labelled prior to storage.

To facilitate the release of the deceased to funeral directors, in line with Trust policy.

To organise office administration functions including e-mails, printing of records and documents, notes tracing and tracking and use of Trust IT systems.

To deal with general queries from hospital staff, coroner's officers, police, relatives of the deceased and funeral directors.

To adequately package, deliver or arrange delivery of samples taken at post mortem examination to the relevant laboratory.

To assist the APT's in cleaning of transition areas within the mortuary.

To arrange official identification on behalf of HM Coroner and assist the identifying officer, ensuring continuity, when necessary.

To layout and prepare deceased for viewing, including high-risk cases.

To support relatives of the deceased and treat with courtesy and consideration at all times.
