Specialist Community Dietitian with interest in Home Enteral Feeding

Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for a new community adult dietitian, with a specialist interest in Home Enteral Feeding to join our dietetic team at Florence Nightingale Community Hospital, part of University Hospitals of Derby and Burton(UHDB). This post is split 0.6 WTE community dietetics, and 0.4 Home Enteral Feeding.

We are looking for a dietitian ready to step up to a specialist role, offering more advanced care and working autonomously in delivering expert dietetic advice. You will be part of both the community dietetic team and the HEF team whom are teams of talented, patient driven dietitians and assistants that work to enhance service provision for patients in the community. We are looking for someone to work autonomously and as part of a team. The post will lend itself to occasional home working.

The HEF team is a newly created team, with a recently appointed clinical lead. The Team consists of dietitians, assistants practitioners, and excellent administrative support.

You will have links with the dietitians in the acute hospitals at Royal Derby Hospital, Queens Hospital Burton and the community team at Florence Nightingale Community Hospital.

Main duties of the job

Our community dietetic service support care predominantly in the outpatient setting but do cover an element of inpatients. We offer support to GP's, health visitors and care homes and have close working relationships with many other health care professionals. We offer home visits for our most vulnerable patients unable to access the clinics in person.

Our HEF service offer high quality care to adult patients with a range of clinical conditions requiring long term enteral nutrition. You may be asked to see some paediatric patients that are enterally fed at home.

You will ensure services are delivered in a safe and effective manner and will have skills to regularly review and improve service delivery. The post holder will report directly to the Community Team leader.

You will be part of the delivery of a comprehensive and effective evidence based dietetic service. You will have opportunities for development and the UHDB team ensure well-being of staff is prioritised.

We have an established student training programme for A, B and C placements, in which you will participate, and the department encourages innovation, CPD and professional development.
