Job summary
This is a new post within our busy Clinical Engineering Department. It is designed to support both our technical and administration teams wherever required.
The role will include tasks such as; carrying out servicing and repairs on specific medical equipment ( once training has been provided ), booking in and triaging medical equipment and all logistics surrounding the Clinical Engineering Department.
Clinical Engineering provides technical support to a wide range of equipment within this and neighbouring trusts and other healthcare centres in North and South Derbyshire and Staffordshire.
Based at Queens Hospital Burton, an 500 bed Acute Hospital, Clinical Engineering provides technical support to a wide range of equipment within this and neighbouring trusts and other healthcare centres over a large geographical area.
The post holder will be required on a daily basis, after appropriate manual handling training, to lift, move and transport clinical equipment within the trust and to other sites where the department has a maintenance commitment. This includes driving and loading/unloading Trust Vehicles.
Out-of-hours working, without prior notice, is at times required to support the department's objectives and to attend breakdowns on essential equipment. Occasional weekday shift and rostered weekend working will be required when access to equipment conflicts with patient treatment or clinical workloads.
Main duties of the job
You will be part of a team providing technical support to general medical equipment in adult and paediatric environments. The role involves logistical support to the service Clinical Engineering provides on multiple sites within North and South Derbyshire and Staffordshire.
To support the provision of a comprehensive maintenance, repair and support service for clinical equipment, appropriate to the post holders skills, knowledge and training.
To perform urgent and unscheduled tasks which will interrupt daily working schedules.
To ensure that Trust safety policies and working procedures are adhered to when carrying out work.
To regularly review maintenance arrangements and his/her own working practices and ensure that the Chief Technician is made aware of any need, or opportunity, for change that might improve patient safety, or the technical service provided by the Department.
To accurately record all work carried out, materials used, and any other details required by the Clinical Engineering Manager in support of the Trust's equipment management system.
To be conversant with the Department's equipment management system and to input data / update files using the keyboard, as required.
To carry out workshop and Health & Safety duties as determined by the Chief Technician.
You will have experience and/or qualifications relevant to the role.
