Job summary
The children's diabetes team at University Hospitals Derby and Burton are looking for an experienced diabetes dietitian to help lead the expert clinical care delivered to children across the region with diabetes. The post holder will be the lead dietitian for children and young people accessing the diabetes service who have additional health needs including eating disorders, disordered eating, type two diabetes and obesity. Additionally you will deliver day to day clinic cover, teaching and education and be involved in the management of newly diagnosed patients. You will also be an active member of the wider dietetic team.
The children's diabetes team aim to provide excellent, evidence based care and use current resource, technology and education to ensure patients receive the highest of care from the team. We rank very highly in achieving expert clinical outcomes for our patients in the most recent RCPCH diabetes Audit data.

The position will involve working at both Royal Derby Hospital and Queens Hospital Burton.
Main duties of the job
The highly specialist dietitian is responsible for a complex, highly specialist clinical case load providing advanced dietary and lifestyle advice to patients and carers.
To work as a highly skilled practitioner within the multidisciplinary team for paediatric diabetes and undertake a range of clinical duties as part of this role.
This will include but is not limited to the following: attending all diabetes clinics, running dietetic specific clinics and ensuring annual reviews are completed for each patient. The candidate will need to have working knowledge of current monitoring and treatment therapies for young people with diabetes.
To advise on complex areas of nutrition and diabetes, with particular focus on eating disorders, disordered eating, type 2 diabetes and obesity but also to include exercise, carbohydrate to insulin ratios, insulin sensitivity factors and translate complex nutritional information into practical dietary advice.
