Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for a flexible and motivated individual to join the Trauma & Orthopaedics Business Unit Management Team as an Operational Coordinator - based within our Pulvertaft Unit.

This is an exciting role for someone wishing to develop their operational management experience. You will be responsible for the day to day operational running of the Administration Teams to facilitate the smooth and efficient running of the services.

You will also work closely with the other Operational Coordinator and Service Managers to support the delivery of key performance management targets within the Business Unit. Experience in managing staff, absence and sickness is essential to this role.

You will play a key role in the operational support of the Business Unit, working closely with Lead Clinicians, Clinical Team Leaders and staff to ensure the systems and processes are in place to meet local and national targets.

You will be required to ensure the effective delivery of services by providing leadership, support and guidance on operational related issues to both clinical and non-clinical staff.

Leading on initial stages of grievance and discipline, appraisals, acting as an appointment panel member, ensuring that appropriate training is delivered to staff, reviewing work performance and progress.

Main duties of the job

Your main duties will include managing the Business Unit's administrative teams, providing operational support to the services with the support of the other Operational Coordinator, Service Managers and assisting with service development objectives.

Ideally you will have a thorough understanding and knowledge of the 18-week RTT process and the Trust Patient Access Policy including the impact this has on service provision.

You will be educated to degree level or equivalent, obtained a leadership or business administration qualification or equivalent.

Knowledge/experience of project work, experience of leading and managing change, also demonstrable experience working in a senior administration role including day to day supervision of a group of staff, advanced level of IT literacy, good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise work, good communication skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Knowledge of Lorenzo will be advantageous. Previous knowledge of T&O and specifically Hand Surgery pathways would be desirable.
