Job summary

The Business Intelligence team at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton is seeking a new Information Analyst join the team. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and enthusiastic individual who has established analyst experience and skill set required for the role.

The Business Intelligence Team provides high-quality analysis and insights for healthcare services provided by the Trust, supporting clinicians and managers with a range of data and analytical products.

The post advertised is hybrid working role, with a mix of onsite and working from home days so you get the best of both worlds; the face-to-face support you need to progress as well as the flexibility of homeworking.

This is an interesting and varied role and is a great opportunity for the right person to gain excellent experience and development.

Recent examples of portfolio work include:

* PowerBi live Emergency Department dashboard

* Daily covid reporting feeding national dashboards

* SPSS waiting list management reports e.g. long waiter trackers and patient prioritisation tools

* A combined theatres dataset from separate Derby and Burton systems to allow joined up reporting

* Automation of national diagnostic submissions including forecast modelling

* Endoscopy capacity and demand reporting

Main duties of the job

Each Analyst will develop analytical products and reports to meet the operational and performance needs of the Trust. They will work closely with managers and clinicians to understand their analytical needs and design and develop appropriate products to meet these.

  • Information Analysts with relevant work experience in an equivalent role. NHS experience is desirable but not essential if you have other essential skills.
  • Educated to degree level in a related discipline. We will also consider equivalent experience working at a similar level or analytical / statistical qualifications or experience.
  • Able to work with large datasets using SQL skills.
  • Experience using reporting tools such as Excel, SSRS, PowerBi, or other relevant reporting software.
  • Able to extract key messages from complex analysis, pre-empt and evaluate issues, and recommend how to address problems.
  • Able to work on own initiative, organising and prioritising own and others workload to changing and often tight deadlines
